Pastoral Council Statement
of Support for Muslim Community

At this time, when our brothers and sisters of the Muslim faith are increasingly subject to prejudice and mischaracterization, the members of the Pastoral Council and the Interfaith Committee of St. Charles Borromeo Church, in Arlington, express their solidarity with and support for the Northern Virginia Muslim community.

Like our Muslim neighbors, we emphatically condemn the killings at Fort Hood and all forms of violence. We pray that God will grant eternal rest to the slain, healing to the wounded and comfort to those who grieve. We pray also that the spirit of tolerance and respect will overcome hatred and divisiveness.

May these recent events serve to deepen the commitment of all communities of faith to mutual understanding and acceptance, as we work together for justice and pray with one voice for peace.

May the God of Abraham, of Moses and of Jesus grant us His peace, His salaam, His shalom.
