Elizabeth Shipe, 1923 - 2008
Elizabeth Shipe, a long-time member of St. Charles, died
December 22, 2008. Her funeral is Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at
1 PM. She is the mother of two grown sons, John (now living in
Alaska) and Robert (now in Colorado). Three years ago, her sons
moved her West to an elder care facility near them. Her priorities
were her sons, her many friends here, and traveling to countries
around the world.
Viewing and Funeral: There will be a viewing at Murphy's
funeral home in Arlington from 11:30 to 12:30 Tuesday, January
13 prior to the funeral at St. Charles at 1 PM. Burial will be
at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
Marie Lane Passed Away
Marie Irene Chamberlain Lane, wife of John M. (Jack) Lane for
44 years, died Saturday morning, January 3, 2009, of respiratory
failure at age 64. She was a beloved wife of Jack and mother of
Jennifer, florist, volunteer, librarian, and supporter of the
education of Haitian and Indian children.
Visitation and a remembrance service: Sunday, January 11
from 4-6 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington
(703-920-4800); a remembrance service will start at 5 PM.
Funeral Mass: Monday, January 12 at 11 AM at St. Charles.
Burial follows at Columbia Gardens Cemetery nearby, with reception
following in Benedict Hall at St. Charles.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to either
of Marie’s favorite charities:
A) St. Joseph ’s Indian School, Special Gifts Department, P.O.
Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57326
Or
B) Haiti Committee, St. Charles Borromeo Church.
