Neighborhood A/B seeks to organize and implement programs that respond to
residents' needs in each of the four major areas covered by the St. Charles
Parish Neighborhood Mission Statement. These areas are:
Hospitality,
Outreach,
Meditation/Prayer/Liturgy and
Education.
In pursuit of our mission, Neighborhood A/B has formulated the following objectives for 1999-2000:
Hospitality
- To organize and execute three all-neighborhood activities.
- To participate in the Parish Neighborhoods' Mass and Party.
- To participate in the Parish Volunteer Fair to identify new volunteers.
- To organize a welcome activity (such as a reception) for new Neighborhood A/B residents.
- To publish four issues of "The News Bee" newsletter (both hard copy and on line versions).
Outreach
- To visit Neighborhood B's homebound and Arlington Manor residents at least once a month.
- To continue to provide services to the homebound/ill, including
assistance with shopping/errands, transportation and reading to the blind.
- To sponsor at least two community outreach projects.
- To monitor affordable housing issues in the area.
- To field a team of Neighborhood A/B residents to take part in a Habitat for Humanity project.
- To participate in Arlington's Neighborhood Day, St. Charles School's Oktoberfest
and the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Walkathon for the Homeless.
- To organize a caroling party to sing Christmas carols with Neighborhood B's homebound residents.
Meditation/Prayer/Liturgy
- To form a neighborhood Gathering group.
- To expand the Neighborhood A/B prayer network.
Education
- To sponsor one new educational activity.
Neighborhood events co-hosted by our Pastor, Fr. Gerry Creedon, our
Parish Council Neighborhood Representative and Neighborhood A/B residents, take

In addition, Neighborhood A/B sponsors a number of on-going monthly
activities organized in response to residents' needs. These activities are:
We also publish a newsletter, "The News Bee,"
which provides information on parish and neighborhood events.
